A little bit about Joseph Clavero

I’m Joseph Clavero and welcome to my website! If you want to know a little bit about me, read on!

I’m a mortgage agent based in Mississauga, however, thanks to technology, I’m not limited to serving my local geographical area only. I provide mortgage services all over Ontario.

I’ve brokered mortgages well outside the Greater Toronto Area such as in places like Owen Sound and Brockville.

Here’s a quick summary of how I ended up here.

My Education, Work Experience, and Ecommerce Business

I graduated from the University of Toronto with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.

I then worked as a process engineer for 20 years in the nuclear industry (at Candu Energy / SNC Lavalin).

I left my engineering career to start an ecommerce business because I just saw so much opportunity to be successful online. Thanks to the internet and readily available analytical tools, the barrier to entry to start a successful business has never been so low.

I did everything myself for the first year to ensure I learned and understood everything about the business.

I then decided that instead of launching one or two products a year, I wanted to launch four to six. So I partnered with a company and hired them to perform most of the day to day activities.

That business is running well enough that I’m only needed to approve things from time to time. That freed up a lot of time for me.

I wanted to do something else but didn’t want to go back to engineering. I wanted to stay on the business side of things.

Why I Chose to Become a Mortgage Agent

Seeing the state of the real estate market, I began to wonder how my kids would be able to own a house one day.

I eventually decided that one of the best ways to help them was to learn how mortgages get funded and to be active in that field so I could help them when their time came.

So I decided to become a mortgage agent! And that’s how I got here.

My Goal as a Mortgage Agent

My goal in this business is to help people get mortgages. I will help anyone get a mortgage but I particularly want to help those who are in situations where they can have a harder time getting one.

Those are cases like single income families, newcomers to Canada who don’t have established credit, self employed individuals, single parents, etc. It might be more difficult to get a mortgage for some people but it can be done.

As a mortgage agent with Dominion Lending Centres, we have access to so many lenders and mortgage products. There’s a mortgage product for almost anyone these days. If there’s one for you, I’ll find it. My search doesn’t start and stop with the big banks.

And since this is my business, not my job, you will have my full dedication. I’ll pick up the phone at 5PM on a Sunday. Will the guy at the bank do that?
